And... I think you could guess where this one's from. :) Yes, it's the Chinese cover for Graceling and I absolutely adore it. I don't think Fire has been released in China-- too bad.
So what do you guys think? Me, I'm a huge fan of the Chinese cover, especially since I'd never seen it before I went cover-hunting, but the UK covers are definitely the coolest I've actually seen around the blogosphere. The US ones are nice, too-- those are the ones I have, so I'm a little attached. The German ones are decent, but maybe a little too similar. Of course, it's a little difficult to differentiate the two books without being able to read German. ;)
I absolutely HEART the UK covers, I think they're so incredible! And now I want them right now! :) I'm not really a fan of the US ones, the German ones are OK and the Chinese one does look pretty cool! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love the UK and the US covers. I'm not a huge fan of the German or the Chinese cover. I love looking at book covers!!
ReplyDeleteI love the UK covers but the US ones are very nice upon closer inspection.
ReplyDeleteThe UK covers are pretty cool, but I think I need to give the awesome award to the US covers. They stand out from everything else I've seen in the YA genre, and even from a distance I can pick them out on a bookshelf. The German covers are sort of...meh. I they don't really strike me as "high fantasy," or at least, that's what I would think if I was looking at Graceling/Fire for the very first time. The Chinese one is pretty, but doesn't really strike me as being...hm...what's the word..."Katsa-like." :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the German covers, much more than the other ones. I've noticed many international covers I tend to like more than the U.S. Covers.
ReplyDeleteI like the German covers for some reason.
ReplyDelete@Ms DeRaps-- I'm sometimes so guilty of judging a book by its cover. Glad to hear I'm not alone! ;)
ReplyDelete@ Kulsama-- Yes, the US covers are more than they appear on first inspection. I love the reflection of the lips and Katsa's eye in the sword.
@Emi-- Yes, the German covers don't exactly scream 'high fantasy world!' They look more like the covers for a historical novel, but I like them okay. And no, the girl on the Chinese cover doesn't seem 'Katsa-like' at all, I have to agree. But I'm a sucker for animation. :)
