Over at the Blog Hop, this week's question is:
"What book influenced or changed your life? How did it influence/change you?"
My answer: The Harry Potter series are the books which opened my life up to magic, and to reading. I read the Sorceror's Stone when I was just shy of seven, and I'll never forget what a powerful experience it was. Suddenly I wanted to read every fantasy I could get my hands on and I wanted to be a writer, to create my own stories. (Almost as much as I wanted to go to Hogwarts. :) ) I remember Sirius Black in the third book scared me (hey, I was seven or eight) and the graveyard scene in the Goblet of Fire gave me chills to read after dark with a flashlight. I have so many memories of reading and re-reading these books. One of my favorite things about reading is that every time you read a book again, the memories of the previous times you read it and where you were and what you were doing come flying back to you like photographs stuck between the pages.
And this week's Follow Friday featured blogger is Shannon @ Stalking the Bookshelves. Make sure to stop by her blog and follow if you haven't already. The question is: What book(s) have you discovered lately from someone's book blog?
My answer: I'm always discovering books from other people's blogs-- more than half the books I read were recommended by a blog or friend! One of the YA books I've discovered recently from reading blogs is Matched by Ally Condie; another is the Vampire Academy series.
I hope you all have an awesome weekend!
Hopping by! I haven't read the Vampire Academy series yet, but I want to. I'm with you, I'm always discovering new titles through book blogs. My fav find last year was Lisa Desrochers Personal Demons. I heart Ya and I LOVED that book!!

Howdy! Just an old follower stopping by to say hi. :)
ReplyDeleteLately I haven't discovered a lot of books from reading blogs (unless a book is self published) I lurk around Goodreads a lot, which is where I find most of my recommendations.
Good luck with your exams, and happy Friday!

hello from your newest follower. I haven't read the Vampire Academy books yet. I'm a bit scared to because of the hype around them. I hated twilight so much that I'm put off of vampires for a while

ReplyDeleteGreat response for the Hop. I wish I could remember back when I read the Harry Potter series...I know I was obsessed at one time. Then I sadly stopped reading them in 5th grade when I found the 5th book to be boring. Don't worry, I know now that I should finish the series :)

This will probably come of something as a surprise but the book that changed/influenced my life (more than any other) is a non-fiction book. I know we all focus on novels and the fanciful fiction we love to read but The Four Work Week is the book that gets all the credit. I know the title sounds fictional but it really isn’t. Hop over to my blog and find out why – http://www.howardsherman.net
ReplyDeleteHappy Book Blogger Hop Day!

Hi Kat! :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, Harry Potter is a good one! Why the heck didn't I think of that? If you couldn't tell, that one affected me too. I mean heck, we grew up with that series! :P
Good luck with your exams, and have fun in mexico! :D

Hi, I'm Asher!
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda new at the whole FF + BH posting...
It's so weird because I couldn't stand the Harry Potter series back when it was first starting to become popular, but I wonder if my opinion would be different now that I'm such an avid reader... Food for thought!
I think that's the best part of book blogging (besides getting to meet new people), that we all just kinda leech off each other, absorbing all the latest bookish info like but not limited to discovering new reads! It's exciting!
Please have a Wonderful day/night and enjoy all of your books!
Asher K.
I agree if I hadn't started my blog I would have never known about all these awesome books that are out, or are coming out this year from other blogs I roam around on.
ReplyDeleteHopping through!
ReplyDeleteThe Harry Potter books are some of my most influential books too. Great pick!
Happy weekend!

Diana Gabaldon's "OUTLANDER" did it for me. I cannot stop reading since I read her books last October. She is the reason why I started blogging about books. Have a super weekend. I am your newest follower. Come and visit me at www.mandysescape.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter is a popular choice this week!
