In My Mailbox (3)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted at The Story Siren.com.  The idea behind IMN is to put new books on a blog's radar and encourage blogger interaction by sharing what books we receive and/or buy each week.
This week has been a great one for blogging: I've managed to post two new reviews, Beautiful Darkness and Cornelia Funke's Reckless, completely redesign my blog, and discover a plethora of awesome new book blogs during the Blog Hop and Follow Friday.  A Myriad of Books has also picked up quite a few new followers-- thank you, guys!  It's also been a good week for the Never-ending Book Hunt.

I made a trip to one of my favorite discount book shops and picked up two bestsellers that have been catching my eye for a while now.
Hush, Hush, by Becca Fitzpatrick.  Yes, all everyone can talk about is Crescendo, and until a few days ago I had yet to crack open Hush, Hush.  Better late than never.  I've also got a copy of this book which I'm planning to put up for grabs as part of my first blog giveaway.

Claire de Lune, by Christine Johnson.  I've already started this one, and was planning to give it away in my giveaway as well... but a hundred pages in I've yet to be entranced at all by this book. So, no, I'm not going to give away a book I don't really enjoy myself.  Too bad about the mediocre story, because the cover is gorgeous.

I also scored my first two ARCs from Net Galley.
Tyger, Tyger, by Kersten Hamilton and The Abused Werewolf Rescue Group, by Catherine Jinks.  I've never read The Reformed Vampire Support Group, the first book in the former title's series, but hopefully I'll be able to follow the story even not having read the last book.  The review for Tyger, Tyger-- an excellent debut urban fantasy about Irish myth and some truly creepy goblins (whom I love)-- is next up and coming in a few days, just before the book is released.

Last but not least, I made a quick trip to the regional library and picked up a few books from the New & Notable shelf.
Dark Life, by Kat Falls.  A friend of mine (Thanks, Mrs. V!) recommended this one recently and I was lucky enough to grab it off the shelf today.  The dystopia premise sounds intriguing... a futuristic world where people live crammed together like sardines, except below the ocean, where a whole society exists beneath the endless blue.
Kith, by Holly Black (illustrated by Ted Naifeh). This graphic novel has proved very difficult to find, both at chain and indie bookstores.  (Not sure why.)  I loved the first book in the planned trilogy, Kin, and have been dying to get my hands on the sequel ever since.  The review is coming very soon, as I'll probably tear through this one.   So, what's in your mailbox this week?

I really like Catherine Jinks! And Tyger, Tyger looks fantastic. Heard so many good things about that one. I'm sure you'll enjoy reading all of these -- Hush, Hush was a nice read, although not my favourite.

Here's what's IMM this week, if you'd like to take a look.
