"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly blogging event hosted at Breaking-The-Spine.com that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week I'm featuring one book whose release I'm anxiously awaiting and another which I'm waiting on (with somewhat less confidence but equal anticipation) to magically Apparate onto my bookshelf...
The Pledge by Kimberly Derting
To Be Released: November 15th, 2011
Words are the most dangerous weapon of all.
In the violent country of Ludania, the classes are strictly divided by the language they speak. The smallest transgression, like looking a member of a higher class in the eye while they are speaking their native tongue, results in immediate execution. Seventeen-year-old Charlaina has always been able to understand the languages of all classes, and she’s spent her life trying to hide her secret. The only place she can really be free is the drug-fueled underground clubs where people go to shake off the oppressive rules of the world they live in. It's there that she meets a beautiful and mysterious boy named Max who speaks a language she's never heard before . . . and her secret is almost exposed. Charlie is intensely attracted to Max, even though she can’t be sure where his real loyalties lie. As the emergency drills give way to real crisis and the violence escalates, it becomes clear that Charlie is the key to something much bigger: her country’s only chance for freedom from the terrible power of a deadly regime.
Shine by Lauren Myracle
Published: May 2011
When her best guy friend falls victim to a vicious hate crime, sixteen-year-old Cat sets out to discover who in her small town did it. Richly atmospheric, this daring mystery mines the secrets of a tightly knit Southern community and examines the strength of will it takes to go against everyone you know in the name of justice.
Against a backdrop of poverty, clannishness, drugs, and intolerance, Myracle has crafted a harrowing coming-of-age tale couched in a deeply intelligent mystery. Smart, fearless, and compassionate, this is an unforgettable work from a beloved author.

Oh great choices! I really want to read The Pledge I loved her Body Finders books. :)

My WOW
Two great books! I haven't read Kimberly Derting's The Body Finder series... sigh. And I've seen Lauren Myracle's book around, a lot!
Hi, Kat!! Hey, thanks for visiting my blog today, and commenting on my very first WOW!
The first book you mention here, 'The Pledge" is definitely my cup of tea!! It sounds like a fascinating read, and I'll be looking for it when it's released.
I'm not so sure about the other one, since I'm not into mysteries much. But, great WOW, anyway!!
Oh, and thanks for giving me the little push I needed to get into this "Waiting on Wednesday" thing!
:)
