2012 YA/MG Fantasy Challenge

So, I unfortunately failed to jump on the train early with this one, but better late in the year than never!  I'm really excited to be participating in the 2012 YA/MG Fantasy reading Challenge, hosted by The Book Cellar.  Fantasy has always been my absolute favorite genre ever since I was little and though I've gotten a late start, I really want to complete the challenge by reading 12 young adult or middle grade fantasies before December 31st.  So here's a mish-mash collage of some awesome-looking fantasy books I'm hoping to read for this challenge.

The Books:
 -- Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
-- Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
--Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore
--Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm (retold) by Philip Pullman
--The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
--The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There by Cathrynne M Valente
--Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
--Magisterium by Jeff Hirsch
--City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
--Faery Tales & Nightmares by Melissa Marr
--Pink Smog (A Weetzie Bat prequel) by Francesca Lia Block
--Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff

So, if any of you've read these books or are doing the challenge, let me know what you think about these picks.  Recommendations are always welcome as well-- what was your favorite YA/MG fantasy book from 2012 so far?

Hi, Kat!!

Hey, these look GREAT!!! I have only one of them so far -- "Seraphina", which I featured in a Shelf Candy Saturday post not that long ago. I pre-ordered "Stormdancer" about two weeks ago, and am just on pins and needles to have it in my possession!! I LOVE that cover, too!!

As for the others, I don't have them yet, but want to!!! I wish I could read as fast as you do, too...also, I do have two jobs...but then, you're a busy college student. You did have to take some time off, but now you're back, so I imagine pretty soon, you'll be back to publishing tons of reviews! You lucky girl, to be such a FAST reader... I really ENVY you!!

Well, thanks for this list! There are a couple here I had never heard of -- "Magisterium" and "Pink Smog". Gotta go check 'em out, pronto!! Thanks for sharing!!! You ROCK. : )

@Maria-- I *am* lucky that I read fairly fast, because suddenly we're getting slammed with a lot of homework and things in my classes! I can definitely see how you would feature Seraphine in a Shelf Candy Saturday-- it is a really beautiful-looking book. You've actually inspired me to try that meme this weekend-- it looks like so much fun. Thanks for visiting! :)

@Diane-- Haha, it seems like a lot of books nowadays are copies of the Hunger Games-- kind of like all the copies of Twilight a few years ago. I'll ask him about it this weekend. :)
